Chijioke Edega, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded Enugu State governorship election in Enugu State, and his party’s state chairman, Casmir Agbo have disclosed the only ground that wll make them withdraw their petition from the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

Speaking on a separate interviews, Edeoga, today, while reacting to the questions fielded by the Trend Africa Online correspondents said that based on different calls from well respected citizens of Enugu State, both within and outside the country in addition to the plea made by some of the religious and traditional leaders in the state, he would consider withdrawing his petition only if the PDP Governor-elect, Peter Mbah will accommodate him and other of his party members who have toiled and moiled day and night in this struggle to make Enugu a better place.

He maintained that he has spent a fortune because he wants to serve the people of Enugu State and can never accept any position that is not befitting to a person of his present political class, asserting that unless he is being giving the Chief of Staff position, the petition will remain unwithdrawn but will go up to the Supreme Court until Justice is done.

“It is not all about reaching a comprise, but a meaningful one which will give me the avenue to make reasonable inputs that will transcend to the development of the state.

“Permit me to also say again that it is not all about me. No, it is about the state. I, my team, and other party members will be accommodated by getting 35% of all the appointments that will be made. Yes, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander,” Edeoga maintained.

Meanwhile, the Labour Party Chairman of the Party, Casmir Agbo had on Wednesday last week, in an On-Air program on Urban 94.5 FM said that if a reasonable comprise can be made between their guber candidate, Edeoga and the Peoples Democratic Party in Enugu State to the point of getting juicy positions in the in-coming administration, then they will withdraw the petition.

He further stated that politics is all about who gets what, when, where and how, maintaining that politics and interest are inseparable.

“Discussions are still ongoing both within and outside the state. Many proud sons of the state are reaching out that we should sheath our swords and allow peace reign in Enugu State so that the Governor-elect could concentrate in fulfilling his promises to Ndi Enugu, but it is not as easy as they are seeing it.

“The truth is that Enugu State needs a serious opposition party in the state to enable the party in power to do the needful. You will agree with me that election in Enugu State has never been this serious. What am I saying? We should make our leaders live up to their responsibilities. So, we can only start thinking of withdrawing our petition only if their is an agreement properly drafted and signed that we all shall be part of the leadership to enable us make impacts that will make the state better,” Agbo said.
